How to take care of your Jewellery

At Jewelled Me, all jewellery is crafted, for you, with the highest quality and splendour to keep it glowing & pristine, well into the future!

Everyone and everything appreciates some TLC from time to time and your jewellery is no different. We’ve got some top tips from experts on how to keep your jewellery looking just as stunning as when you first purchased it.

GENERAL JEWELLERY TIPS

Chemicals like chlorine, in swimming pools, perfumes, lotions or other acidic liquids can cause damage to the plating and reduce the lustre of the jewellery. All our jewellery is waterproof but please stay away from exposing your jewellery to extreme temperatures.

To ensure the best long-term quality of your pieces, please leave them off when you are:

  • Showering
  • Doing hair &/or makeup
  • Going swimming, sitting in a hot tub or saunas (prolonged aquatic activities)

We advise using a soft lint free cloth to clean your jewellery and keep it looking beautiful. This helps to protect the surface and avoids scratches. Storing your jewellery in an air tight, dark and cool place will help to prevent damage to the surface.

All our jewellery is made from the highest quality materials with love and care. Our materials include:

  • Sterling Silver
  • 14k -18k Gold plated
  • Stainless steel
  • Brass
  • Copper

Most products are alloys and have trace amounts of other metals including copper and nickel. However, these amounts are so low that only people who are hypersensitive may react to them.

Plated jewellery will naturally fade, over time, but you can keep it looking as beautiful as when you first purchase it by following the tips above.

STERLING SILVER JEWELRY

Silver polish goes a long way in bringing an extra vivacity back to your silver pieces and is great for removing dirt and minor blemishes.

The great thing about silver pieces is the oils in your skin actually help to prevent them from tarnishing.

ROSE GOLD & GOLD-PLATED JEWELRY [SOLID GOLD AND GOLD VERMEIL]

Returning the shine to gold or rose gold pieces is relatively simple. You can soak your pieces in a mixture of warm water (not too hot) and a mild mix of dish soap.

After leaving them soaking for a few minutes, rinse them with water and dry with a soft cloth. You can buffer out any stubborn residue or dirt by rubbing them with a microfiber cloth too.

CUBIC ZIRCONIA

Keep the vivacity of your cubic zirconia pieces thriving with some care and polish treatment.

Using a soft toothbrush with a mixture of warm water and mild soap, gently scrubbing away any dirt and build-up can be done. Once you're finished, simply rinse and dry with a soft piece of cloth

GENERAL STORAGE TIPS

We know it’s easy to get attached to your jewellery; they are incredibly beautiful pieces after all but they need their space too!

For maximum continued maintenance it’s always a good idea to take them off (when showing or sleeping) and storing each piece individually in any of the following ways

  1. In its dedicated case,
  2. An airtight plastic bag,
  3. A soft microfiber pouch or bag
  4. A dedicated jewellery box

Your jewellery will thank you for it by keeping its gleam and dazzling quality!

GENERAL CLEANING TIPS FOR GOLD AND SILVER JEWELLERY MAINTENANCE

Cleaning your gold and silver jewellery at the end of every day with a soft cloth (like a microfiber glasses cleaning cloth) to remove oils, fingerprints and anything else, like makeup or lotions, is a good idea.

At least once a week, you can also use a little liquid and soap to give a more thorough clean.

  1. Mix 1/2 cup of warm water with some mild liquid soap.
  2. Leave your jewellery to soak for up to 5 mins.
  3. Remove your items from the water and rinse under some clean water.
  4. Let the jewellery dry and, if you want, you can polish it and put it away.

And voila, that’s all!
